What is your staff turnover?
Company-wide, Joy In Learning employs approximately 42 staff members. Approximately 1/3 of our full time staff have been with us between ten and twenty-six years, another 1/3 between two and ten years, and the remaining staff have two years or less.
Is your staff trained in First Aid/CPR?
Yes. Maryland State Department of Education requires licensed child care centers to provide one staff member certified for every twenty children in attendance. Joy In Learning goes beyond state licensing requirements by provide First Aid/CPR for all employees every two years.
How will I know what is happening during my child's day?
Infants and Toddlers - Caregivers fill out a "daily note" recording information about eating habits, urination/bowel movements, general disposition and ways your child was engaged and stimulated. Two's and older - Caregivers are available on a daily basis at pick up and drop off to discuss your child's day. Also, feel free to call anytime to check on your child.
May I visit my child during his day?
Yes, we have an open door policy. We are here to serve the community and we consider the time well spent in showing you around.
How will I know that my child is safe while I am at work?

Do children go outside every day?
Our program includes at least two "outside playtimes" each day - weather permitting.
What security measures are taken when releasing children?
Parents and guardians are required to sign-in and sign-out children in the sign-in book located in each classroom.
What is the current enrollment capacity at all your locations?
Glen Burnie Park - 60 children
Marley Park - 36 children
Whispering Woods - 82 children
Who is available in the Business Office to answer questions?
The Business Office is located next to the Glen Burnie Center.
Ms. Patti is the Administrative Director, handling tuition accounts, purchase of care, and processing payments.
Ms. Caryle is the Executive Director, monitoring MSDE regulations, licensing requirements, staff, and the curriculum.
Mr. Dennis is the Facilities and Maintenance Director, taking care of center maintenance, JIL vehicles, and special projects.
